CASE STUDY - Good Samaritan Senior Community, Stillwater MN
Good Samaritan Senior Community in Stillwater, MN was given a 1 year grant to study complementary therapies for agitation, anxiety (sun downing), disturbed sleep-and consequent falls related to poor sleep.
Jodi helped them to define their aromatherapy program needs which included:
- Selecting which essential oils they could safely and effectively use for their stated goals
- Identified which methods would be used to deliver aromatherapy for a variety of needs - individual and group uses
- Ensure their protocols were safe for this population’s unique issues (skin issues, respiratory conditions, medications, etc.)
-
Provided staff training and addressed questions and concerns.
At the end of the grant, aromatherapy was deemed a success. The continues today to provide aromatherapy to their residents and staff because of the positive outcomes, and support from staff, residents and families.
